Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Front Royal can seem a little off the beaten track, but we love it!

This quiet, little town just an hour and a half outside of D.C. has lots to do and plenty of charm.

Here is a list of 5 of our favorite attractions in Front Royal!

Beautiful Road on Skyline Drive

1. Skyline Drive

Skyline Drive winds along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park and is one of the most beautiful roads in the country! In fact, these breath-taking mountains are said to provide the inspiration for the name of the town. The overlooks along the ridge make for great pictures and picnics. Prefer to get out and hike? There are lots of hiking trails in the park with a range of difficulties for hikers of all ages.  The entrance to the park is right at the edge of town and makes for a fun and relaxing afternoon, no matter the season (although fall is especially gorgeous).

2. Main St. Front Royal

There is a timeless charm to an old fashioned Main Street. We absolutely love the small-town look and feel, having relationships with many of the shop owners, and running into people you know. Our office window overlooks the street and there is a friendly familiarity to seeing many of the same people every day.  There is a peaceful hum to the street that revitalizes you. There are a great variety of places to eat and shop along with a beautiful gazebo that hosts events throughout the year (check out some of them here). Across the parking lot from the gazebo is a retired red caboose that serves as the backdrop for the farmer’s market, it’s also very popular with the kiddos. We have truly enjoyed having a business on Main St.

3. The Shenandoah River

People come from all over to canoe down the famous Shenandoah River, and we have it in our backyard (some of us – literally!). Whether you’re looking to canoe through rapids, spend the afternoon floating down on a tube, planning a big group activity or a romantic date, this river has it all!

Cup of Coffee

4. Happy Creek Coffee & Tea

This coffee shop and gluten-free bakery is a great meet up place. Located within easy walking distance of our office, Happy Creek is definitely a staff favorite, as is the Happy Creek Eatery right on Main Street. They roast their own unique blends of coffee and craft each cup with care.

During the summer, one staff favorite is their nitro-infused cold brew, while Nathan loves to order the Dialed In! We absolutely love having such an excellent and unique coffee shop around the corner.  It’s a regular spot for staff meetings!

Double Bacon Cavern Burger

5.  Spelunkers Burgers & Frozen Custard

You can’t talk about favorite places in Front Royal without mentioning Spelunkers! This one of a kind burger joint is a must for any and all visitors. All of the burgers are made with fresh, never frozen, 100% beef and the custard is simply sublime! Check out the Flavor of the Day if you’re looking for something fun and different. Popular with residents and visitors alike, Spelunkers can get a little busy, but they do a great job of working quickly to get help everyone. Definitely one of our staff’s favorite places to grab lunch!

We love being located in Front Royal.
